Problems We Solve

Context

  • In 2020 organizations’ employees were required to “shelter in place.”
  • In 2021 employees began a slow return to the central workplace while many/most continued to work from home.
  • In 2022 a new “hybrid” work model had been established with both advantages and disadvantages in working remotely.
  • Advantages included more privacy to focus, less work distractions like office chatter and politics, reduction in commute cost and stress.
  • Disadvantages included fears of lower productivity, not being “seen” by management, never stopping work.

New Work Reality

  • The new work reality is “here to stay”. It is not going away.
  • It’s a work anywhere hybrid model, a mixture of work locations (central office and/or remote settings), but rarely just one.
  • It is dynamic and may frequently change (daily, weekly, monthly) as individual employee work behaviors and requisite work requirements change.
  • And, as a result, it is reshaping cities, careers, family life and free time.

Organizational Challenge

  • In 2023, the organizational challenge is to understand how each organization uniquely functions within the reality of hybrid working.
  • When well designed, this way of working can heighten advantages and reduce disadvantages.
  • Imagine, if decision makers could see how their current organization “maps” with this new work reality; a simple graph comparing employee suitability/capability to do remote work versus employee preference to work remotely.
  • Imagine, if this insight could be “drilled down” viewing results by the overall organization, divisions/departments, teams and even individual employees.
